For the Treatment of Itch in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

The trial: We are running a trial of a new treatment which we hope will improve itch in PBC.

Funder: This clinical trial is funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) pharmaceuticals.

Why: Itch is common in people with PBC and currently available treatments are not always effective and have side effects. We need to find better treatments for itch in PBC patients.

What: The drug being investigated is currently called GSK2330672. This drug has not been tested in PBC patients before.  The purpose of this trial is to see if GSK2330672 can improve itching in PBC patients. The trial will test the safety and effect of GSK2330672 in PBC patients.

Who: PBC patients with Itch.

Where: The trial is based in three research centres in the UK: Newcastle, Birmingham and Cambridge. The trial involves six visits including three overnight stays at the research centre. Patients participating in this trial will receive reimbursement of their travel expenses.

When: The trial is now open to recruitment
