For the Treatment of Itch in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

The trial: We are running a trial of a new treatment which we hope will improve itch in PBC.

Funder: This clinical trial is funded by LUMENA pharmaceuticals.

Why: Itch is common in people with PBC and currently available treatments are not always effective and have side effects. We need to find better treatments for itch in PBC patients.

WhatThe drug being investigated is called LUM001. This drug has not been tested in PBC patients before.  The purpose of this trial is to see if LUM001 can help treat itching in patients who are already taking Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA). The trial will test the effect of LUM 001 on patient’s symptom of itch.

Who: PBC patients with Itch.

WhereThe trial is based in three centres in the UK: Newcastle, Birmingham and Oxford. Travelling expenses of patients participating in this trial will be reimbursed.

When: The trial is now open to recruitment
